Barcelona Juniors gets off to a slow but steady start
After the first five games of the season the boys team is 1-2-2. In the season opener the boys came back from 2-0 down to tie the Northern Valley Knights. Gavin Ottomanelli scored the second goal from 25 yards out to salvage a point for BJSC. In the their second match the Hillsdale club drew 0-0 with Excel Lightning, where goalie Jack Ottomanelli recorded his first shutout. The third game was the first of two losses in a row, Monroe United and Westfield Samba. Both games were very close thanks to the brilliant defending of Theodore Morris and Brendan Caltavuturo. The fifth match saw the team bounce back in convincing fashion. The boys defeated Cedar Grove 6-0. Captain John Restrepo added a fourth goal to his hat trick, taking him to the top of the scoring table. The teams next game will be against the Wall Vipers on Cinco de Mayo.
Barcelona Juniors Girls U9 continue to show improvement
The U9 Girls team continues to show growth with every match. The girls opened their season against two New Jersey power house programs, PDA Galaxy and Hazlet Swarm. Goalkeeper Leah Glasser recorded 17 saves to make the Swarm have to work harder for their win. This group of girls is amazing with their effort and relentless attitude against some great teams. They are already looking forward to their next match against the Rage.
